The pioneers used modern irrigation techniques to make the land habitable and to this day the city is known for being the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormon Church).
Salt Lake City is known for its hot, dry summers and cold, windy winters. During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 89 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often hitting around 64 degrees. During winters, however, temperatures hit around 46 degrees during the day, with lows often dropping to around 27 degrees overnight.
