How to check any company yourself
The same five checks work for every auto transport company, whether or not it is on this page.
1. Authority is active
Look the company up on SAFER by USDOT or MC number. Read the operating status and the authority type, and confirm it is registered for the kind of work you are hiring it to do.
2. Insurance is on file
The FMCSA Licensing & Insurance site lists the authority and insurance filings for a company by docket (MC) number. Look for a current filing, then ask the company for its certificate of insurance and read what it covers.
3. Read the safety record
The FMCSA Safety Measurement System shows a carrier's inspection and crash data. Read it for yourself and ask the company about anything that stands out.
4. Names and numbers match
The legal name and USDOT or MC number in the offer, the contract and the insurance certificate should all match the government record. If the name on the paperwork differs from the name on the record, ask why before you book.
5. Get it in writing
Before you book, get the price, the pickup and delivery terms and the company's cancellation terms in writing from the company you choose. On delivery day, inspect the vehicle, note any new damage on the Bill of Lading, then sign.

Questions about this board
A directory of the licensed auto transport companies American Auto Shipping is a disclosed agent for, with each company's USDOT and MC numbers and links to the public government records where you can read its current status yourself. We do not summarize or score those records; the government's own pages are the source.
You do. American Auto Shipping is a vehicle shipping agent: we put your request in front of the companies listed here, they make their offers, and you choose. The company you choose quotes, books and arranges the transport, and your agreement and price are with that company.
A status copied onto a web page is only true on the day it was copied. FMCSA records change, so this page links to the live record instead of repeating it. Check the record on the day you book.
Use the same three public tools with the company's USDOT or MC number: FMCSA SAFER for registration and operating status, FMCSA Licensing & Insurance for the authority and insurance filings, and the FMCSA Safety Measurement System for inspection and crash data.
