Yet Another Nor’easter to Affect New York Car Shipping
Well, another Nor’easter is expected to blast the Northeast this week. If you’re keeping score at home, that’s four this month. Over a foot of snow is expected to blast New York City, making New York car shipping services pretty tough to complete right now.
It really doesn’t help that Mother Nature has already dumped a ton of snow on the area. And considering that New York City is one of the largest auto transport hubs in the nation, and certainly in the northeast, it’s even tougher. As we head toward spring, the snow should melt and things should get easier. But until that happens, New York car shipping is going to be tough to complete.
What to expect with New York car shipping services
Like with the other Nor’easters that have hit the region, you can expect delays in both pickup and delivery. You should also expect delays in dispatch for shipments either to or from the area, at least until the snow clears.
Auto transporters don’t like winter weather. Snow and ice are treacherous to drive in, and when you’re hauling hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cargo, risk vs reward comes into play. Carriers would rather not risk shipping into or out of snowbound areas if they can help it.
Of course, it’s New York City, which makes it tougher. So be prepared for delays.
Something else to keep in mind – it’s not just New York City. Philadelphia, Boston, Providence, even Washington, D.C. will likely be affected. Stretches of the I-95 corridor through those areas will also see delays. Some routes will probably see price hikes while the snow is around, too. So higher prices, longer wait times for dispatch, pickup, transit, delivery – that’s what to expect this week with Winter Storm Toby.
