Southern Auto Shipping Services In Jeopardy This Weekend

Southern Auto Shipping Services

Just a week after Hurricane Florence left at least 42 people dead, the southern U.S. – and southern auto shipping services – are in peril. This is due to the remnants of tropical depression 19-E, which dissipated over northern Mexico and is now pushing eastward across the south.

The results? Heavy rain, flash flood warnings, and difficulty getting around the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana. The frontal system is expected to push eastward over the weekend and perhaps even into Monday.

How southern auto shipping service are in jeopardy this weekend

Flooding and heavy rain are bad for car transporters. Really, they’re bad for everyone – no one wants to get caught in a flash flood. They’re dangerous and difficult to predict and can cause serious damage to life and property.

But this is an auto transport website, so we have to focus on how this will impact car transport services. And the fact of the matter is that they could end up impacting them in major ways.

Texas is one of the most popular auto transport locations in the United States. Cities like Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio all are major auto shipping hubs. When heavy rain and flash flooding rolls in, carriers tend to avoid the area.

This leads to delays in dispatch as well as route disruptions. Consider that Texas has several major interstates including I-10, I-20 and I-35 all running through it. If carriers can’t access portions of these highways, it results in reroutes and diversions. Carriers stuck in the region may be stuck for several days due to the flooding.

Is this the case everywhere in the region? Of course not. So it’s important to speak to an agent about your shipment if it’s going through said region. But overall, it’s something to be aware of and prepare for accordingly.
