Gulf Coast Auto Transport May Get Dicey This Week

With a potential tropical cyclone developing off the Gulf of Mexico, Gulf Coast auto transport services might be a bit tougher for carriers to manage this week. Heavy rains, isolated tornadoes, high winds and flooding is expected across Eastern Texas, Southern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi.

The storm is expected to hit the area by mid-afternoon today and work its way into tomorrow. This can cause issues with pickup and delivery locations as well as routes through the region.

What to expect out of Gulf Coast auto transport services

The storm isn’t expected to last too long, but it is going to impact the area. The heavy rains are usually not difficult to deal with; it’s the winds and the flooding that tend to stump shippers. Flooding, especially along major routes such as I-10, can cause diversions and delays for carriers. Auto transporters like to avoid heavy rains and flooded areas if they can help it.

The high winds are also a factor in your shipment. High winds – especially those that accompany a tropical cyclone – can fling debris around that can damage cars on a vehicle shipping truck. And then when you factor in isolated tornadoes…well, this whole system could turn off some carriers.

The biggest ones it’ll impact are those that are already in the area. If your pickup or delivery window is scheduled for today, it will likely get pushed back. Some carriers are going to take cover and ride out the storm – others may want to beat it. However, none of them want to run the risk of driving through affected areas if there’s a chance your vehicles could get damaged. That’s something that no carrier wants to deal with.

How to prepare for your Gulf Coast auto transport services

Really, if you haven’t shipped to the area yet, this tropical storm isn’t really going to do anything. It’ll pass fairly quickly and by the end of the week things should be somewhat back to normal. However, we’re getting into the season of heavy storms, and weather tracking is only so good, after all. We recommend speaking to an agent to learn more about it.
