The issue comes from the fact that there is some freight that carriers just don’t want. Maybe it’s it’s a bit off the route they’re taking, or the vehicle is too large or too heavy. There’s a hundred reasons why a carrier wouldn’t want a vehicle.
Expedited shipping services exist to make sure that carriers want the load. The expedited price pushes your vehicle to the top of the board so that it is the highest-paying vehicle on the route. This causes carriers to start chomping at the bit trying to get it for themselves.
How Expedited Auto Shipping Works
Different auto shippers have different expedited services and offer different rates. But most will say that their expedited auto transport services get your vehicle picked up on a specific day. Others will say within 24 hours, so you want to make sure you know what their services are.

Lots of people could use expedited auto shipping services. In fact, most people would probably opt for it if they had the ability to.
But shipping a car isn’t cheap for most folks, and most people also don’t need their vehicle shipped right away, or picked up on a specific day.
So the people who really need expedited auto shipping usually fall into one of two categories: they are shipping last minute, or they need pick up to be done on one or two specific days and that’s it.
There is a third category, people who just want it moved as quickly as possible. But those are pretty rare – most will opt for standard or priority services in that case.
People who are shipping last minute are those that usually need expedited services the most. Their flight leaves the next day and they have no one else to release the vehicle. Their house closes the next day and they need their car picked up or they won’t be able to store it anywhere. This is fairly common, though we don’t recommend shipping this way if you can avoid it.
The second major category are those that need it moved on a specific day. They’re flying into the pickup location and are only there for the day, for instance. Or they have busy schedules and can only find time on one day to release a car to a carrier. There are plenty of others, of course.
