Auto Transport Tips: Why Brakes Are Important for Car Shipping Services
Auto transporters are in the business of transporting vehicles for a living. Each one hauls hundreds of cars every year across the vast nation that we call the United States, resulting in hundreds upon thousands of vehicles being transported. All those vehicles that they transport are vastly different in terms of size, make and model, and condition, among many (many) other things. One of the most important things that a vehicle can do, however, is stop, regardless of what you’re talking about. The ability to stop your motor vehicle is of supreme importance, and regardless of whether you are driving your vehicle or it’s on the back of an auto transportation truck, it has to be able to stop.
We all know why stopping is important in every day situations, but why is it important on an auto transport truck? There are a few different reasons, the main one being that it helps keep your vehicle secure while on the truck. While vehicles that cannot brake are of course able to be shipped, not all trucks have the capabilities of loading, securing and ultimately unloading a vehicle that cannot stop itself, and should something happen – even while it is secured on the truck during transit – it could end up costing the transporter hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance claims depending on how bad the damage was. Brakes are also useful for the driver when it comes to loading and unloading as it gives them much more control over the vehicle and they are better able to secure it properly once it is on the truck – and get it off just as safely.
If your vehicle does not brake, it’s not going to cost you an arm and a leg to ship it, though you may have to jump through a few extra hoops and you may end up paying a bit more (but not an overly large amount) for transportation services.
