Auto Transport by Region: The Pacific States
The Pacific States region of the U.S. consists of five states: Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska and Hawaii. The Pacific States, as the name suggests, is comprised of all the states that border the Pacific Ocean. Home to over 70 million residents, the Pacific States have played a major role in the growth and sustenance of the United States since the turn of the 20th century, and California in particular is known as a financial and entertainment mecca. Cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle are major trading locations and major port cities as well, particularly Seattle, and historically have played a significant role in the formation of the U.S. we know today.
Transportation to and from the Pacific States can be easy or difficult to achieve, depending on where you are shipping from and to. The entire region is locked on the west coast, west of the Cascades and the Rocky Mountains – this cuts them off from the rest of the country geographically, which may explain the many differences that the Pacific States have when compared to many other regions of the U.S. The main north-south interstate through Washington, Oregon and California is I-5, a major interstate and one of the most crucial for the car shipping industry. It connects Mexico and Canada via the Pacific States, and passes through most major cities listed above, as well as many smaller areas that shippers only go through because the interstate is there.
